YPFB Live

Let's get started with some basic information on who we are and what this site will be about.

WHO:
We are a group of young professionals (well, some of us, we range from about 23-34) with an interest in personal finance. We have a great group of friends at work who have recently formed what we are dubbing a Financial Group. This doesn't mean that we are pooling our money and buying investments, what it means is that we are all getting together and sharing ideas about various financial subjects.

Where:
We all live and work in New York state, about an hour north of the city. Now that you know that, you know why we have to worry about our finances so much...the cost of living is ridiculous here.

The Young Professionals Financial Blog:
Now that we are out of college and have been working for a few years, we actually have some money to play with. So we use the group to share ideas about saving, investing, buying houses, handling debt, and any other subject that we can think of that involves our finances. Since we all have different backgrounds and views, our group is a great way to get different insight on various topics. That is what we would like to share with everyone.

I'd like to know which sources of financial information you've each found helpful - Wall Street Journal, Morningstar, financial websites, financial magazines like Forbes, Money, etc... Just curious.

We actually have a post planned on this...maybe next week we can get it out. As for a short version:
Money Magazine - love this magazine
Kiplingers - love it...but a little less than Money
Yahoo Finance - Great articles here
CNN Money - like it...but less than Yahoo
Other PF blogs - have a few on the side of the main site, but there are many others

That is a quick list...more to come soon.

Ryan,
That is a great question. It took quite a bit of setup and is definitely not a seamless operation. It is a combination of something that del.icio.us has on their site and some Greasemonkey scripts for Blogger. I set it up a while ago and have no clue where I got them from at this point. You should be able to use Google to find the scripts though, then they should have some kind of write-up there.

Basically, the script adds a field for tags when I create a post, then after I publish, there is a link that I have to follow to go to del.icio.us to post the article there. Then the script on my site somehow queries del.icio.us to get those counts.

Sorry I cannot be more of a help, but I put it on here and forgot about it. I didn't bookmark any of the pages.
