The Demographics of Where I Live...
Ramit from I Will Teach You To Be Rich posted today on the demographics of where he lives and I went to check out the site that he got it from. It is pretty cool to see, too bad the census info is a little old (from 2000). Maybe this will end up being the next viral post in the PF Blogosphere when everyone checks the demographics for their neck of the woods.
Pretty interesting stuff, would love to see the latest data to see how it has changed since there have been a bunch of new houses built over where I live now. You can probably tell from the data that Poughkeepsie is much more of a city than where I live now, which is a little more rural.
On thing that I have a hard time believing is the median rent being down around $600. When I first came to the area, I was paying closer to $800, but I guess there must have been some better deals out there according to this data.
Also, how nice would it be to still be able to get a nice house for those prices listed up there? Don't see anything worth looking at within $100,000 of those prices around here anymore.
